Title: Campus Speakers
Purpose: To describe University policy about freedom of inquiry and information.
Policy:
The University of Oregon endorses the principle that by definition it is a place of free inquiry. Without freedom to seek information, the objectives of a University cannot be achieved. In accordance with this basic principle of freedom to seek information wherever it may be found, any registered employee group, or any registered or recognized student group may invite to the campus any speaker the group would like to hear. The appearance of any invited speaker on campus does not involve an endorsement of the speaker's views by the University. Any such appearance is subject to reasonable rules and requirements respecting time, place, and manner of the proposed appearance, the availability of adequate facilities, and the bona fide educational priorities of the institution.
