Title: Use of University Seal and Logo

Purpose: To describe limits of use of University seal and logo and to identify official responsible for final determination about any proposed use of the seal or logo.

Policy:

The University of Oregon seal may be used only for purposes which will promote the goals and purposes of the University. The same limitation shall apply to the University logo.

The Registrar is authorized to use the University seal on official papers such as diplomas, transcripts, and other official documents of that office. The President has delegated to the Vice-President for University Advancement authority to make any other determinations about use of the University seal and logo.

1. Approval for use of the seal as an official imprint shall be determined by the nature of the document. In general, all publications issued under the supervision of the University's Publications Office shall be eligible to display the University seal. Publications presented to the University Printing Department under any other sponsorship shall be reviewed by the Vice-President for University Advancement before the seal is approved for such use.

2. Approval for use of the seal as a decorative motif on any commercial object shall be based on current conventions of good taste.

3. Commercial use of the seal shall be limited and controlled by the University's standard licensing agreement administered by the Vice-
President for University Advancement.

4. The University logo may be used as an alternative to the University seal as determined by the Vice-President for University Advancement.
