Title: Classified Research

Purpose: To record Faculty legislation regarding Classified Research

Policy:

No classified research shall be conducted at the University or with University facilities or equipment. Applications for research grants will not be accepted when all or any portion of the intended research is classified, or if there is a reasonable likelihood that all or any portion of the intended research will become classified in the future. If all or any portion of the research underway becomes classified, the research will be terminated within a reasonable time unless a successful appeal is made to seek declassification.

This policy should not be interpreted as abridging any faculty member's right to conduct any research as a private contractor, provided that such activities fall within the scope of the policies of the University with respect to outside activities of staff.
