Title: Use of Facilities By Non-University Organizations
Purpose: To describe limitations of use of University facilities by non-University organizations.
Policy:
Tax-supported facilities should not be used in ways to create unfair competition with individuals or businesses operating in the private economy. Therefore, permission for use of University facilities by non-University organizations may be granted only where a clear showing can be made in advance that the use is essential and that no comparable satisfactory facility is available in the private economy. Permission may be granted if the organization requesting the use of the facility desires to sponsor an event from which the net proceeds will accrue to the University, or to a non-profit non-commercial civic or charitable group.
Use of University facilities does not in any way relieve the users from full legal liability for violation of law or infringement of the rights of others, and the University nay insist upon indemnification by the user (coupled with adequate insurance) regarding liabilities arising from such use.
